Six stages of a relationship

  • - Stranger - you don’t know me but I’m your brother

  • - Acquaintance – “a person one knows slightly, but not a close friend”

  • - Person they like – your interpersonal skills + you’re an empathetic subject matter resource

  • - Person they trust (friend?) – characteristics include: affection, sympathy, empathy, honesty, altruism, mutual understanding and compassion + you’re an empathetic subject matter resource AND you help solve an important life situation

  • - Person they do business with – now you must perform!

  • - Person they will refer to others – you continue to perform!
