Host a seminar on multiple related senior topics
Using seminar based strategies can be a lot of work but can yield great results if you don't get discouraged at sometimes disappointing attendance and if you try different approaches and evolve your seminars based on what works and what doesn't. An example of a handout used in a mutli-subject presentation delivered at six senior centers by a "team" of specialists is shown at Senior Specialist Brochure.
You may choose to host a seminar series (see seminar series) or you may wish to host a seminar on a single topic. Another strategy is to host a longer seminar that involves two and at most three topics. Some agents will market such a seminar as a "Community Expo". Three examples and participants you can hear and evaluate in podcasts are are:
Financial Seminar/Expo including:
Estate planning/trust - Amanda Weeler
Reverse Mortgages - Refi - Jim Zures
Retirement Planning - Nazih Yeyyeh
1031 Exchanges - Phil Atwan
Downsizing - Real Estate Seminar/Expo:
Propositions 60, 90, 110, 58 and 93 - You or assessor office representative
Reverse Mortgage - Purchase Reverse - Jim Zures
Real Estate local and national market trends, downsizing facts & considerations - You!
Aging in place/senior modifications vs. selling - You or knowledgeable contractor
Planning for aging and senior placement
Senior housing placement - Elena Merchand or Lorri Thanos
Home Healthcare - Home healthcare serving your farm neighborhood
Aging in place/senior modifications - you or knowledgeable contractor
Reverse Mortgage - tool to finance home healthcare and senior modifications - Jim Zures
Real Estate agent for sale of home to finance assisted living decision - you (hear Bevin Eustace)
You may come up with combinations of subjects that would be interesting to your senior segment. Hold these seminars at senior centers, community centers, local libraries, restaurants or even have them hosted by your favorite Mrs.Kravatz! We do not recommend having these at real estate offices - this idea has been proven a bad one by many agents.
Again, do not be fearful of a small turnout. Even if small in numbers, the group that turns out for your seminar is likely made up of interested and maybe even motivated prospects.
